8/12/09

In our previous lessons, we were planning to finish of the poster on the 8th of December and present it to Ms Gooch. Unfortunately we are delayed by a lesson, meaning we will have to finish the work in our spear time, this was not a problem for me because I enjoy working on Adobe Photo Shop and learning new features. Thursday the 17th of December is the day that we plan to finish our poster after school.
Here are some examples of Musical Posters:

01/12/2009

In preparation to this lesson, our homework was to capture an image of a brick wall. The detailed planning in previous lessons gave us a finalised idea for the poster. Last week’s tutorial on Adobe Photoshop was of great benefit this lesson. We started sketching out the layout onto the software. The poster is now taking shape and form.

17/11/2009

We were given a variety of posters which we analyzed such as the font, style, layout, theme and colour. The analysis gave us an inspiration to creating our posters. We then planned the outline for our poster individually in our groups. This provided us with the benefit of having everyone's visual ideas of the poster.

Media 24/11/09

We learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop on Mac. The brief was to create a poster on West Side Story. It was easy for me to follow the brief as I had already used the software previously. By planning the layout of the poster it was uncomplicated when putting information into the software. I had an overall vision of where to insert text and the design of the poster.

10/11/09

In our lesson we were designing our posters on West Side Story. After we had finish, we all came back together in our groups and shared our ideas around. From each poster we commented on how they can improve and what went well. In my poster, I had to work on the font and also the colour. The positive thing that went well was: the way I placed the pictures, text and also the Dunraven logo. While my group were carrying on with poster, Ms Taylor gave me another job to do. I had to plan out the lessons on what we will be doing until the end of this project.

Tuesday 3rd November

Tuesday 3rd of November
On Tuesday we were split in to two groups, the trailers, and the poster. I decided to work with the poster group, because I found it creative. I would have loved to work and also film, with the trailer group, but I wanted to give other people a chance to learn how to use a camcorder. This is because I have had many experiences with camcorders and different types of editing software. In our group there were 4 people, each of us had to come up with a brief poster design for West Side Story. Here are few of the ideas that we came up with in our group, explaining about what we should include in our poster.

· Background (bricks)
· Slogan
· Colours that we have to include in our poster (red, blue and yellow)
· Title
· Venue
· Pictures
· Different types of Font

At the end of the lesson, we presented our ideas to the class, explaining what an excellent poster must include. We also showed the class our sketches on the posters and had few feedbacks on how we can improve it.

Teacher Feedback

I'm glad to see that you have started to organise your blog into one.  You have also include many detailed responses. To improve, you need to complete missing work. Blog after everyone lesson and include images such as video link and photographs. Your blog does not reflect the hard work you have put into your poster. Get it in there.

Review on the short films we watched at the BFI.

I found the story interesting and a bit scary. It shows how people with a mental disorder behave. I also found it emotional, due to the fact that the husband did not recognise his wife.

The story was set in a house. The way how costumes were used in the film was productive, because when they show the husband in a young age, he is wearing casual clothes. But at the end when the director shows the husband at his real form, he is wearing his nightwear.

Sound, music and special effects are used to create a distressing and up beating atmosphere.
The person who I think is important is the husband, because the story line is based on himself and his illness.

I recommend that people should watch this film, because it shows, how a mental disorder person would act and also how members of the family have to respond towards their life.

The mark that I award to this short film is 10/10

Publicity is an extensive mention in the news media or by
word of mouth or other means of communication. Publicity is the deliberate attempt to manage the public's perception of a subject. The subjects of publicity include people (for example, politicians and performing artists), goods and services, organizations of all kinds, and works of art or entertainment.
In our previous lessons, we were studying about publicity, and how we could publicise ‘West Side Story’.
